Choose Practitioners with Care

시술자를 신중하게 선택하라.

CAM practitioners are people who have training in the therapies listed previously. Choosing one should be done with the same care as choosing a doctor. Here are some things to remember when choosing a practitioner:

Ask your doctor or nurse to suggest someone or speak with someone who knows about CAM.

Ask whether someone at your cancer center or doctor's office can help you find a CAM practitioner. There may be a social worker or physical therapist who can help you.

Ask whether your hospital keeps lists of centers or has staff who can suggest people.

Contact CAM professional organizations to get names of practitioners who are certified. This means that they have proper training in their field. (See Resources.)

Contact local health and wellness organizations.

Ask about each practitioner's training and experience.

Ask whether the practitioner has a license to practice in your state. If you want to confirm the answer, ask what organization gives out the licenses. Then, you may choose to follow up with a phone call.

Call your health care plan to see if it covers this therapy.

캠 시술자란 보조대체의학(CAM) 에 관한 훈련을 받은 사람을 말한다. 캠 시술자를 선택하는 것은 의사를 선정하는 것만큼 신중하게 해야 한다. 시술자를 선택할 때 기억해두어야 할 몇 가지가 있다.

· 의사나 간호사에게 시술자를 추천하도록 부탁하거나 캠(보조 및 대체요법)에 대하여 알고 있는 사람과 의논하라

· 암센터나 주사치료실에 있는 누군가가 캠 시술자를 찾는데 도움을 줄 수 있는지를 물어보라. 당신을 도와줄 수 있는 사회복지사나 물리요법사가 있을 수 있다.

· 당신 병원에서 시술센터의 목록을 갖고 있는지 혹은 병원직원이 사람들에게 알려줄 수 있는지를 물어보라

· 캠 전문단체에 검증된 시술자의 이름을 알 수 있는지 접촉해보라. 이 말은 이 분야에 그 단체들이 적절한 훈련을 하고 있다는 의미이다.

· 지역의 보건 및 건강단체에 알아보라

· 각 시술자의 훈련이나 경험정도에 대해 물어보라.

· 시술자가 당신의 주(州)에서 시술면허를 갖고 있는지 물어보라. 대답을 재확인하고 싶다면, 어떤 단체가 면허를 발급하는지 물어보라 그러면, 전화로 확인할 수 있다.

· 의료보험 회사에 전화를 해서 이 요법(시술)이 보험으로 충당되는지 확인하라.
